March 5 - April 13, 2024
From the organizers:
“Artists Rainey and AnnMichèle Morales explore the complex and emotional intrigue of words through their paintings. Using their own unique styles, such as metaphors, landscapes, collaged text and cursive, the artists visually investigate a wide range of words, from the uncommon to the familiar.
ARTISTS: Rainey Rodriguez is an artist & art educator living in San Antonio, Tx. Primarily an oil painter, Rainey has been exhibiting her work since 1995. She is most recognized for her pop surreal and mid-century modern works. Currently she is focused on creating mixed media work that addresses memory and its fragility, what does the brain choose to keep and can our memories be measured through an abstract.
AnnMichèle Morales, currently based in San Antonio, Texas, received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago and has participated in several residency programs, such as Skowhegan School in Maine, Connemara Conservancy Foundation in Dallas and the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. Morales’ work employs metaphor, humor, collage and word play to address societal ideologies and daily patterns—and what role, if any, does the artist play. Her pieces have been exhibited in various venues such as the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum in Chicago, the Snite Museum of Art University of Notre Dame, Indiana, Zentral Bibliothek, Zurich, Switzerland, and ArtPace in San Antonio.”
