Acceleration Without Arrival: 2025 Studio Art MFA Thesis Exhibition
Artists: Nathan Anthony, Ben Copolillo, Noah Dasho, Lorena Diosdado, Christian Hastad, Tova Katzman, Laurent Le Bel–Roux, Miles Matis–Uzzo, Britt Moseley, Sasha-Kay Nicole, Javier Robelo, Phoebe Shuman–Goodier, Katherine Vaughn, and Selina Wagner
Celebrating the process of becoming, Acceleration Without Arrival embraces the journey itself. Through painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, performance, and extended media, members of the graduating MFA cohort navigate themes of transformation, uncertainty, and persistence. These artists find comfort within a space of reclamation against the need for a destination. United by a commitment to process and discovery, materials coalesce, memories mingle with presence, the body shifts between subject and object, and radical practices of play propose unforeseen futures. Unyielding efforts make for work that is open about its questions, offering us the chance to find meaning in the open space between, where growth, transformation, and connection unfold. The exhibition is not a conclusion but a milestone—one that radiates momentum, possibility, and the promise of what’s yet to come.
Artists: Juno Aldana, Nahla Beltran, Alexandra Blount, Paula Botello, Kristi Brooks, Ana Campos, Chloe Canales, Levy Cao, Jacob Cardenas, Saira Carrillo, Olivia Ceaser, Pierce Cedillo, Jeongin Choi, Hoi Lee Chung, Marissa Devivar, Mary Fluitt, Sophia Frizzell, Rosie Ganske, Albert Gillogly, Sophie Guinn, Adelyn Hall, Emma Horn, Sorelle Jackson Mackenzie Jones, Lilian Juschka, Zach Larkin, Cailyn Lavinder, Amara Lopez, Zahra Martinez, Reyna McCann, Jennifer Missimer, Breyona Mitchell, Marina Newlin, Lusia Nnam, Emilly Pardo, Gianna Paredes, Caitlin Reimer, Caitlyn Ruiz, Rachel Salcido, Elizabeth Singhaus, Harper Smith, Genevieve Traynor, Adelaide Walker, Corina Zarate, Isabella Zatorski, and Alexa Zimmermann
Between the Pit and the Peel brings the artworks from graduating BFA Art Education and BFA/BA Studio Art students to the second floor of the Visual Arts Center. The works on view range across media, including paintings, drawing, print, sculpture, video, performance, photography, and new media, and represent four years of student work, developing and refining their creative practices at UT and in the Department of Art and Art History. Between the Pit and the Peel offers a reflection of each student’s experience at the University and celebrates their accomplishment ahead of their transition to the broader arts community following graduation.
