“In 1965, Bob Dylan went electric on the album Bringing It All Back Home. 50 years later, in 2015, Toby Kamps bought a digital camera.
The comparison of Dylan’s abandonment of the acoustic folk ethos that won him so many fans to a photographer turning his back on the Houston darkroom scene nurtured his life as a street photographer is strained, to say the least. But something of the same impulse driving Dylan music fuels Kamps’s photography: to capture the mysterious flow and accidental surrealism of life today. Bringing It All Back Home: Toby Kamps Photographs at the G-Spot Gallery features approximately 40 new color and black-and-white photographs made in the US and abroad.”
