Collage 2012 to Celebrate Museum’s 45th Anniversary and The Atlas's
McAllen, TX– The International Museum of Art & Science cordially invites you to “Collage 2012: Celebrating Excellence”, the largest and longest-running gala in South Texas. Join us the evening of Saturday, September 29th 2012, as we honor Morris & Rita Atlas, and celebrate IMAS’s 45th Anniversary. Collage 2012 will be an evening of fine dining, live and silent auctions, and entertainment.
The funds raised enable IMAS to continue to set standards of excellence as the only Smithsonian Affiliated museum south of San Antonio, as well as the only institution accredited by the American Association of Museums in the Rio Grande Valley.
Since its establishment in 1967, IMAS has delighted and impressed visitors by featuring unique art and science exhibits. Over 70,000 visit IMAS every year, 50% of which are children ranging from 4-12 years of age. IMAS has recently become even more accessible to the community through its Satellite Galleries located in McAllen and Mercedes, and through its educational outreaches that feature its latest technology, "Magic Planet". Furthermore, the museum's "Family Fun Night" Program gives all families the opportunity to experience what IMAS has to offer.
IMAS Executive Director Joseph Bravo says, “Collage enables us to continue with our vision of excellence by bringing world-class exhibits and artists to the the Rio Grande Valley that will challenge, inspire, and motivate the community to discover themselves by discovering the harmonious relationship between the arts and the sciences.”

About Morris & Rita Atlas
Morris and Rita Atlas have been loyal and committeed McAllen residents for over half a century, playing an invaluable role in development and prosperity of many social and artistic organization that have transformed McAllen from a sleepy border community into the present, rapidly expanding leader of the Valley iti is today.
Mr. Atlas attended the University of Texas where he met his future wife Rita Willner. In 1950 after Mr. Atlas graudated from law shcool, he and Rita moved to McAllen where he became one of the founding members of Atlas, Hall, Rodriguez, LLP. Mr. Atlas has been unyielding in his continued support of the community; his civic efforts have won him many well deserved awards.
Mr. Atlas has been an active leader in the community for many years and has served in many capacities, such as: Board of Regents of Pan American University; The University of Texas Chancellor's Council; Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Board of Directors of Texas Regional Bancshares, Inc., Board of Directors of Texas State Bank, Texas Senate; "Special Counsel: Civil Justice Reform, and Worker's Compensation and D.T.P.A.", Board of Directors of Texas-Mexico Bar Association, and Trustee, Vice-President, President, and Life Member of The University of Texas Law School Foundation.
Mrs. Atlas has gracefully combined motherhood and philantropy, resulting in both a beautiful and successful family and a long history of excellent service to her community. She has been named "Woman of the Year" by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, and has been a long time supporter of the International Museum of Art & Science.
The Atlas' support of the numerous organizations in McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley, have enabled our community to prosper. Their consistent generosity to IMAS over the decades is especially appreciated. We are deeply proud to be an integral part of their vision of a vibrant future filled with culture, prosperity, and quality of life.

The mission of the International Museum of Art & Science is to promote a deeper appreciation of the arts and sciences through exhibitions, cultural events, and educational programs; and to preserve, expand, and display its permanent art and science collections.
