March 28 - 29, 2025
From the organizers:
“Riso-Rama is here at Texas State University for its third iteration, and this year promises to be an inspiring gathering for risograph artists, designers, and independent publishing enthusiasts. Mark your calendars for March 28-29, 2025, from 1-5pm at the Flex Space Gallery for two days of creative presentations, artist showcase market, and a hands-on workshop.
Event Highlights:
Keynote presentation by Risolana (Albuquerque, NM).
Co-founders Michael Lopez and Karl Orozco started Risolana in 2021 to fill the need for a publicly accessible risograph studio in the state of New Mexico. They prioritize empowering their community by teaching the process and uses of the risograph over simply providing printing services. They aim to: cultivate an artmaking space as accessible as the risograph itself, establish a network of socially engaged artists and designers, organize a printed archive of Albuquerque’s artistic and social movements.
Panel Discussion featuring Texas-based artists.
Our panel of Texas-based artists, @surelypress (Grant Patterson and Claire Elestwani), @tr_rico (Tyler Rico), and @softspotspress Gino Dal Cin and Kris Wright) will share their experiences and perspectives.
Exhibition
This year Paradiso, national juried exhibition of Risograph work, is on display from March 17-31, 2025.
Riso Roundup Market
On Saturday, Risograph artists and vendors from across Texas will be showcasing their books, zines, prints, handmade objects.
Free Risograph Printing Workshop
Ever wanted to try your hand at risograph printing? Now’s your chance! Join our interactive workshop on Friday led by Arroz is Arroz (Fresno, CA). Vicente Velázquez III and Juan Karlo Muro began A is A by offering their print and design services to friends, various artists, and local establishments—people and places that they’re ultimately fans of.

About Riso-Rama
Riso-Rama is an independent publishing event that brings together artists, students, and community members to highlight risograph print work and connect creatives.
For those unfamiliar with risograph printing, the mechanical printing process combines the style of screen printing with the convenience of a photocopier. Known for its vivid colors and unique textures, the risograph originated in Japan in the late 1940s. Risograph work maintains its popularity in the independent publishing world today, offering artists a creative and convenient way to share their work in larger quantities.
Additional details can be found at www.riso-rama.com/.
This event is organized by Associate Professor of Graphic Design, Alexandria Canchola (Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi) and Assistant Professor of Communication, Joshua Duttweiler (Texas State University). Riso-Rama is sponsored by the MFA Communication Design program at Texas State University.”
