March 20 - April 20, 2025
From Laura Rathe Fine Art:
“Familiar imagery sparks recollections of memories for viewers allowing them to make connections through personal and pop culture. Max Steven Grossman’s manipulation of printed media evokes the tactile comfort of books and album covers; Paul Rousso’s oversized branding, like Rolling Stone, plays on the influence of advertising; and Nick Veasey’s reimagining of pop culture imagery, including his nod to Maxwell’s ‘Blown Away Guy’, references a shared history of well-known brands in the media. These images transcend time and place, acting as visual shorthand for personal and cultural histories.
By engaging with these symbols, viewers are immersed in a sensory experience that transcends nostalgia, akin to the head rush of recognition or the sudden surge of emotion when hearing a familiar song. The works invite us to reflect on the symbols that shape our world—those that endure, those that fade, and those that define our ever-evolving cultural landscape.”
