February 13 - March 21, 2025
From SPACE:
“Join us at SPACE at Adolphus Tower for the opening of “Roots & Revelations: A Dallas College Alumni Exhibition,” on view from February 13 to March 21.
Presented by the Dallas College School of Creative Arts, Entertainment, and Design (CAED), FGIII Fine Art Productions, and Hoque Global, in conjunction with Downtown Dallas, Inc. this group exhibition celebrates the work of Dallas College alumni who continue to push the boundaries of their artistic practices.
Featuring a wide range of media such as drawing, spray paint, watercolor, mixed media, printmaking, oil paint, and digital art, the exhibit showcases the diverse approaches and perspectives of these talented artists.
“Roots & Revelations” explores themes of nature, identity, pop culture, classical art and architecture, and community. It reflects the artistic growth of the featured alumni, shaped by their time at Dallas College and their ongoing journeys through creativity and life.
Participating artists include Raul Rodriguez, Juan Cruz, Christopher Machorro, Nicolas Gonzalez, Daniel Yanez, Michelle Reyes, Eliana Miranda, Patricia Rodriguez, Mikey Hernandez, and Elisa Guardiola.
Artist Juan Cruz’s work embodies the exhibition’s themes by reimagining classical art and architecture. Through traditional mediums, he explores the intersections of architecture and technology, challenging historical norms and encouraging a new generation to create art that defies convention and sparks questions.
Michelle Reyes’s work, deeply tied to nature, carves out personal mythology through linoleum block prints. She draws inspiration from animals, insects, and elements of land, sea, and sky seeking to rekindle the forgotten connections between humans and the natural world. Her work resonates with the exhibition’s focus on identity and community by bridging the past and present to restore these bonds.
The exhibit will be curated by Raymond Butler, who himself began as a student at El Centro Campus, before moving on to a professional career as an artist, event promoter, and college gallery coordinator.
Don’t miss the chance to celebrate the creativity of Dallas College alumni and their diverse artistic practices. “Roots & Revelations” highlights the talent, growth, and unique perspectives of these former students, showcasing their work across various mediums and themes that reflect their artistic journeys.
