“Katie Walker’s Sense of Space explores the physicality of space through abstract compositions that focus on the act of making and the materials themselves. Using acrylic paints and canvas, Walker layers, pours, and builds her pieces, emphasizing the texture and structure of the surfaces she creates. Her work examines the relationships between planes, edges, and marks, capturing the way these elements interact and shift across the canvas. Moving away from familiar imagery, Walker focuses on the process of construction, exploring how layers of paint and marks can alter our perception of depth and space. The result is a body of work that emphasizes the tactile and visual qualities of the medium, inviting viewers to consider how physical space is both shaped and experienced through the materials at hand.”
