From San Jacinto College:
“Rooted in past and present experiences, Gale’s work explores the sanctuary, yearning, and ambivalence that exists within her familial closeness. Utilizing comforting imagery from my past and present, she renders the daydreaming that has served her as a form of escapism through the books, video games, cartoons, and play of her youth.
Nostalgia guides her application of color, composition, and stylization, and fears of embarking on adulthood alone are symbolized through dollhouses, rabbits, paper dolls, crayons, and clowns. This exhibition tells a story about clinging onto adolescent comfort in the attempt to never grow up and apart.
