“Un Grito Gallery is pleased to present “Encounters”, an exhibition of paintings by Maya Sokovic. This solo show will open Thursday, December 5th and Friday, December 6th, 2024, from 7-10 pm with a closing reception held on December 19th, 2024.
“Encounters” an exhibition by Maya Sokovic offers an exploration of memory and emotion through a combination of color composition and organic shapes. Over the past years, Sokovic has created a diverse body of work that reflects her personal experiences and connections she has forged with both people and nature. Each piece in the exhibition serves as a bridge, bringing memories from her past into the present moment, evoking a rich tapestry of emotions.
Through this exhibition, Sokovic invites her audience to embark on a journey of exploration, where past encounters are not merely recollections but integral parts of our present identities.
Bio:
practice includes painting, photography, design and installation. Sokovic’s recent exhibitions include: “Fountains of Imagination” Agarita loft Gallery (San Antonio,
Texas), “VOLTA”, Gallery Azur Madrid (Spain); “Favorite Thing” Sebastopol Center for the Arts Sebastopol (California) and solo exhibitions “Fragments of
landscapes” MBAW Gallery (San Antonio,Texas), “Moments” , Brick Gallery (San Antonio, TX).
Antonio Express-News, San Antonio Current and Glasstire and Arts Alive San Antonio as a featured artist. Her work can be found in private collections in the
United States, Europe and Australia. Recently she partnered with ”Sweetgreen” LA and with Rachel Eckroth (St.Vincent keyboardist and Grammy Nominated Pianist)
and John Handfield (composer, drummer and percussionist). Sokovic exhibits internationally in galleries, alternative art spaces, and community centers.”
