From Mixhaus Gallery:
“Spring Mix is the debut exhibition for MixHaus Gallery and features the work of three artists: Robbie Austin, Stephanie Robison, and Scott Simons. It is a celebration of color, pattern, form, line, texture and materiality. Elements of time are present: the immediacy of Simons’ expressive, textural paintings; the ancient materials and processes of carved stone and felted wool manipulated by Robison into whimsical forms; the colorful, geometric patterns painted or sewn by Austin on previously used surfaces such as old maps, surveyors’ field books, or vintage hand-embroidered tea towels. All these works are object-like—Robison’s meticulous 3-dimensional forms, Austin’s hand-built wood frames specific to each piece, and Simons’ large wood panels with impasto texture.
MixHaus Gallery celebrates the art and process of mixed media and mixed discipline artists. For each exhibition, they typically select two to three artists whose work fosters visual or conceptual dialogue between them. Their mission is to elevate their artists, and to catalyze authentic connection, creative transformation, and collaboration through a curated mix of multi-disciplinary art and gatherings.
