September 9 - 23, 2023
From January:
“ART/WORKER is the first of an exhibit series, bringing the works of those in the Fine Arts industry, to the forefront. Though each artist participating in this show is an art worker in some capacity, the works provided by the artists are not necessarily thematically tied to their professional lives. Rather, the aim of the ART/WORKER series is to provide exhibition space for workers in the arts, to showcase the art they make for themselves.
“This show is for us, who are the museum workers, preparators, and technicians. When we are at our best, the work we do is invisible: we who carry and suspend the weight of disbelief. We: boots-on-the-ground, caring for acres of sculpture garden, mopping gallery floors, unclogging toilets, and maintaining the physicality of the institution. We: securing and preserving art history for generations to come. We: the faces of the museum, with the fortitude to engage thousands on a weekly basis. We, who build exhibitions and bring visions to life with hammers and nails, and lumber.”
