From the organizers:
“From Artist Chris Levack: “I strive to make works that can both complement and endure the Texas elements. I derive inspiration from landscapes, landforms and the life forms that exist on them. My body of work exists entirely outdoors. I started with the most sustainable wood I have ever worked with: Ashe Juniper. It is an aromatic red cedar that reproduces in abundance throughout the Hill Country. These cedars make a resilient, exterior grade lumber, and are ultimately reintegrated into the environment as sculpture and architecture. Also unique to Ashe Juniper is its visual beauty. The core of each trunk is a rusty pink when first cut open. Over time it will oxidize to an orange brown. The tree itself is curvaceous and anatomical, and lends itself to sculpture seamlessly.””
