“This series of drawings came together unexpectedly. Some began as compulsive sketches, as studies in technique, and were tweaked and added to throughout the last few months. They only became a cohesive set a short time ago. They willed themselves into existence. A bit of degenerate art for you, all ghostly grays and smudged shadow. Blank paper haunted by pencil. Shape and texture suggests narrative, and narrative is propelled by symbolic iconography. Graphite is crystallized carbon, so these were all painted with diamond dust.””
