March 24 - April 30, 2023
From Ao5 Gallery:
“A new exhibition showcasing the work of local up-cycling artist Bill Stearn will be opening its doors to the public this month. “From the Ground Up” will feature a collection of stunning pieces created from discarded materials, each transformed into unique and beautiful works of art. The opening reception will take place at Ao5 Gallery March 24th 6-8pm, as collectors enjoy complimentary cocktails and tastings from Tequila 512.
Bill Stearn has a dedication for creating art that not only intrigues the viewer but also promotes sustainability and reduces waste. In this exhibition, Stearn will be showcasing a diverse range of pieces including art made from city bus tickets, torn cardboard, scraps of metal, lottery tickets, and recycled materials with textured patterns. Each piece is uniquely hand-framed by the artist from discarded frame shop materials. Although Ao5 Gallery will display large pieces of art from Stearn, his small scaled artwork will also be displayed and are perfect for small spaces or tiny homes.
Since moving to Austin, Stearn has been strongly influenced by the ever-changing downtown skyline of the city, particularly the new Independent high rise, affectionately referred to by locals as “the Jenga tower”. This industrial influence of the developing Austin skyline with Stearn’s savvy upscaling technique creates the perfect urban artwork imagery.
“From the Ground Up” will debut March 24th and be on display through the month of April and will be open to the public during regular gallery hours. For more information, please contact Cassady at Ao5 Gallery at 512-481-1111. “
