November 11 - April 15, 2022
From the Longview Museum of Fine Art:
“Longview Museum of Fine Art’s “Buffalo Soldiers Revisited: History on Canvas” is the first exhibit of East Texan Bob Snead‘s works since his death in 2020 at the age of 84. With many of the first paintings now in private collections, the Texas Governor’s Mansion, and donated and/or loaned to art entities across the country, it has been more than 30 years since many of the stunning works of art have shown together, outside of El Paso, Texas.
More than 20 pieces comprise this poignant collective of acrylic paintings, and pen and ink drawings, each one painstakingly researched to provide a unique window through time to retell another important chapter of America’s storied history. The exhibit will include Snead’s cornerstone piece, “The Buffalo Soldier” – painting No. 1 in the collection, originally painted in 1968.”
