From Love Texas Art:
“Love Texas Art is honored to present The Butterfly Case, artwork by award-winning Texas-based artist Bernardo Vallarino. The Butterfly Case is a series of mixed media sculptures, installations, and other interdisciplinary artworks merging religious elements with components of entomological displays. True to Vallarino’s previous social commentary work, this immersive multi-media solo exhibition touches on themes of apathy, racism, and classicism towards groups including minorities, migrants, and the houseless through ornate, precious, doctrine-evoking displays. By using beautiful pinned dead butterflies as a vehicle for introspection, Vallarino asks visitors to consider the value of those living and reflect on how we each treat all humans.
“It is part of the human experience to avoid pain and humanity prefers to ignore painful truths rather than to confront them. As an artist addressing social issues, I feel a responsibility to create artworks that evoke questions with respect to our own behaviors towards others.” – Bernardo Vallarino
The Butterfly Case will be on display from November 12, 2022 – January 7, 2023 at Love Texas Art gallery located at 501 Houston Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. The opening reception will take place Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 6-9pm.
“Margery Gossett and I are beyond excited to bring The Butterfly Case by Bernardo Vallarino to Love Texas Art. This compelling series is beautiful, yet challenging, providing an access point for viewers to consider hard social topics and gives opportunities to explore empathy. “ – Ariel Davis, Love Texas Art, Co-Owner”
