“A Dog Named Robot is the MFA Thesis Exhibition of Erika Jaeggli. Jaeggli is an MFA candidate in Drawing & Painting at University of North Texas. This exhibition of paintings is a culmination of three years of graduate studies at UNT and field research into Texas cave systems, funded by a Dozier Travel Award from the Dallas Museum of Art. The work makes connections between the micro and macro, and understanding the interdependency of how we exist within our environment and how our environment exists in us.
About the artist:
Erika Jaeggli was born in Baltimore, MD and received her B.A. in art history from Columbia University and M.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Interactive Telecommunications Program. Her work has been shown in Texas, California, Maryland, Arkansas and Missouri. Jaeggli’s work has been featured twice in Studio Visit Magazine. She was an original Board Member of Texas Vignette, a non-profit dedicated to promoting and supporting women in the arts in Texas, and now serves as a member of the Advisory Council. She has been artist-in-residence at the Dallas Arboretum. Recent notable accomplishment is receiving a TACA Pop-Up Grant for her on-site work at the Boedeker Building, a historical 100-year old former ice cream factory in Dallas, TX. Additionally, she was a 2021 recipient of the The Otis and Velma Davis Dozier Travel Grant from the Dallas Museum of Art. Currently, Jaeggli lives in Dallas, TX and is an MFA candidate and Teaching Assistant in Drawing and Painting at the University of North Texas in Denton.”
