From Dougherty Arts Center:
“Life with Water is an ode to the life sustaining aquifers of the Texas Hill Country.:
Regina McIlvain is a photographer/multimedia artist, collector and curator whose work has been showcased internationally. As a photographer her work has illustrated more than 300 newspaper and magazine articles.
Currently her work delves impressionistically into neglected themes and memories: the constant but unacknowledged contribution of women, places that have witnessed generations of change and our collective interaction with Nature.
Aesthetic beauty as a healing tool motivates Regina in her search for subject matter. Sometimes it is a minute detail within an image that has the power to captivate and rise above the mundane.”

Found this exhibit by chance during SXSW – a welcome change of pace and a reminder of what Austin used to be! I was expecting just pictures but the displays had a lot of character and depth.
Thanks, Philip, Just saw your comment now but your reaction was exactly what I had hoped to elicit from viewers!
What a beautiful installation. The Texas Hill Country is gorgeous and it’s intriguing to see timeless images of a region that is changing too quickly.
Thanks Jocelyn, your comment is much appreciated!
