February 28 - March 28, 2022
From Contracommon:
“Contracommon is proud to present Generally General, an exhibition of works by Brock Caron, running from February 28 to March 28, 2022. The opening reception will be held at Contracommon on Saturday, March 5 from 6-9pm, and is free and open to the public.
Brock Caron invites the viewer to get lost in a town that’s between here and nowhere, and end up at the local general store. Guests will be immersed in a space that disguises some of the white walls of the gallery, and lets the viewer see the work in its supposed natural setting. Using a mix of illustration, sculpture, painting, and printmaking, he hopes to bring to life a small town untouched by a fast-paced world.
Brock’s work is about overheard stories and comments, from places that may or may not exist. The work is influenced by traditional American music, ventures of early American life, and advertisements from the days of cure-alls and moonshining. Brock has a BFA from Texas State University and is a studio member at Contracommon.
Generally General will be on view in the Contracommon Gallery from February 28 – March 28. The Gallery is open to the public from 12-6 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with private viewing appointments available Monday – Thursday at calendly.com/contracommon.
