December 4 - February 26, 2022
From the Basement Gallery:
“A solo show by Randall Garrett, with work inspired by the streets of Mexico City, opens at The Basement Lounge in Ft. Worth. Four years ago, Randall Garrett, longtime Dallas artist and founder of the seminal alternative space Plush Gallery, established a studio in Mexico City. In that time, he has produced work which responds to the materials and content of the streets, the textures and layering of posters, graffiti, debris, and history itself.
His solo show, “Street Songs,” presents a selection from the body of work he first created there, in the form of posters which were first shown on the streets, as arte urbano. Their imagery includes performance photos combined with commercial and political imagery, in a remix which feels like equal parts pop art, detritus, and propaganda.
A reception for the show will be held on Saturday December 4th from 6-9 pm, and viewing continues during normal operating hours through February 26th. The Basement Lounge is a modern rustic lounge serving inspired craft cocktails alongside contemporary artworks.”
