From Foltz Fine Art:
“As Houston anticipates summer, Foltz Fine Art prepares for their upcoming show, the 15th installation of The Texas Aesthetic, featuring an eclectic range of mediums and styles to create a cross-section of art made in Texas today by 25 artists. Life in Texas looks nothing like it did 50 years ago. The rural roots of our past often get overlooked, yet many artists seek refuge in those places. They remind us that not too far from our cities, we can find the essence of what makes Texas a unique place. The show celebrates the communion of classic visions of Texas with modern sensibility, nodding to Early Texas art and artists while paving the path for new local perspectives.
With artists hailing from across the state, the 15th Annual Texas Aesthetic exhibition explores current themes involving Texas’ diverse culture, landscape, flora and fauna, and history. Exhibiting artist include: Mallory Agerton (Houston), Mary Baxter (Marfa), David Caton (Utopia), Margie Crisp (Elgin), Arthur Deatly (Houston), Fidencio Duran (Austin), James H. Evans (Marathon), David Everett (Austin), Jon Flaming (Dallas), Malou Flato (Austin), Pat Gabriel (Fort Worth), Billy Hassell (Fort Worth), Lee Jamison (Huntsville), Charles D. Coinciding with The Texas Aesthetic, our vignette exhibition Ode to East Texas: The Art of Lee Jamison features paintings from the recent Tyler Museum of Art exhibition. For the past several decades, Lee Jamison has traveled around capturing the people and places that make East Texas so unique. His impressionistic paintings spotlight subjects ranging from picturesque pastures to iconic downtowns. Grouped together in this exhibition, Jamison’s work celebrates the essence and mystique of the region. A book talk and signing for Ode to East Texas: The Art of Lee Jamison, published by Texas A&M University Press will be held at the gallery on June 12, 2021 from 1-3pm.
