About the Artists:
MARISSA CASTILLO was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. She attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. and received a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Original Works. Following graduation she performed in Seattle for a few years before moving to Houston, TX, where she now resides. She is the mother of two boys and balances life as an artist with substitute teaching, arts administration, acting and playwriting. She is co-founder, and marketing and communications director of TEATRX- A Latinx Theatre Company in Houston, TX.
TEATRX is producing a five-episode web series that culminates in a live-streamed performance of a bilingual adaptation of Shakespeare‘s famous “Balcony Scene” from Romeo and Juliet. The web series will document our search for theatricality through virtual platforms, the challenges facing Houston theatre artists, and the effects outside factors (Covid19/Social Distancing) have on people’s relationships with their loved ones.
