September 30 - October 11, 2019
An MFA Thesis exhibition featuring work by Angela Scardigno.
“The wood collages I have recently created are comprised of pieces collected during several visits to the Valley.
Through recontextualization, I strive with my works to re-signify and revalue each piece of the total composition, to rescue each piece from anonymity and place it under the inquisitive gaze of the viewer. Each piece becomes part of a whole package; simultaneously, that whole constitutes part of a body of work that expands and gradually becomes its own language. The challenge I am personally endeavoring to conquer involves bringing fragments of the past to the present, generating new visual experiences with uncommonly utilized materials, and creating memorable pieces with materials that would have otherwise been totally lost to time.”
Opening: October 3, 2019 | 6–9 pm
