Fingerprint experts are excited by the possibility that a fingerprint, presumably that of Jackson Pollock, was copied from a can of blue paint he used on one of his last works and applied to the stretcher of a painting now claimed to be his work. Pollock forgery may be old hat, but according to Pat Wertheim, a criminalist in the Arizona Department of Public Safety and an expert on fingerprint forgery, were it true, it would be only the second case of fingerprint forgery on record.
