April 12 - May 3, 2025
From Grackle Art Gallery:
“Grackle Art Gallery is proud to announce HACK THE PLANET, a group exhibition curated by the Kickpigeon Kids showcasing the work of new media artists Julie Libersat, Nick Bontrager, Julia Caswell Freund, Mckee Frazior, Nathan Harper, Dust Bunny, and Jules Jung. This exhibition runs from April 12, 2025, to May 3, 2025, at Grackle Art Gallery, located in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth, TX. A opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 7-10 pm.
The Kickpigeon Kids are excited to present their third curated installation, HACK THE PLANET, a new-media focused group show that explores technology’s place in the home. It has become integrated into speakers, refrigerators, and litter boxes that text you. Can technology be used to connect us back to one another, to a sense of place and belonging, or will it continue to isolate us? Does technology expand our capabilities to influence the world, or does it constrict the world to control us? Selected new-media artists were invited to submit artwork and asked to include another object that represents “outdated or obsolete technology,” however the artist should interpret that.
Using an experimental kind of curation, the Kickpigeon Kids, the artist duo of Cosmo Jones and Max Marshall, use their combined experiences to create installations out of participating artist’s work, their chosen objects and other stuff, making the show itself into a collaborative group work. In this way the Kickpigeon Kids work to demystify ART by creating spaces where anyone can join in questioning the norms of how art is made, seen, and shown.
