From Texas State Universities:
“Texas State University alumni Cat Rigdon’s solo exhibition [ FL3X ] Dig-Site excavates the history of the artist’s childhood in Cyprus, in light of current events in Rigdon’s life. The interactive installation includes Rigdon’s ceramic work and paintings, both of which reflect influences from her upbringing. She began pottery at an early age, learning traditional techniques alongside her mother from a line of generational production potters in Cyprus. Rigdon later discovered a love for coil-built Famagusta-style vessels, distinctive for their exaggerated handles and humanoid features. At the heart of the exhibition are notes incised into Rigdon’s artworks. These inscriptions are raw, vulnerable expressions of the artist’s current thoughts and emotions, revealing the intimate but relatable nature of her experiences. A dynamic canvas, where the past is continually reinterpreted through the lens of the present, [ FL3X ] Dig-Site provides a unique perspective on the interconnectedness of history and contemporary life.”
