From Really Small Museum:
“Quilts hold stories and memories in every stitch. Rescued Remnants breathes a second life into items that were once treasured, but now forgotten. Whose little hands once dressed and undressed their doll in these dresses? Are there once loved items in your home that are ready for a new life?
Steph Granillo is an Austin-based multidisciplinary artist whose playful and sustainable work is a fusion of traditional mediums in nontraditional forms.
“My work is a celebration of the beauty and the stories that can be found in discarded and forgotten textiles. As an improvisational quilter, I let the limitations and natural shapes of the repurposed materials to guide me in the creation of the final pieces. I hope to inspire others to consider the impact of their own consumption habits and to find joy and beauty in unexpected places.””
