From the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts
“A dialogue with Artist, Shaun Leonardo, and UH Police Chief, Ceaser Moore, moderated by Deputy Director of Contemporary Art Museum Houston, Janice Bond. This event will include a viewing of Shaun Leonardo’s 2020 video Memory/Cycle, and a responsive dialogue between Leonardo and Moore as they discuss the perception and practice of policing in the U.S.. Memory/Cycle was produced via a series of visual storytelling workshops engaging corrections officers, legal advocates, formerly incarcerated individuals and court involved youth to translate their stories into performative gestures without the use of words. Leonardo and Moore share a background in performing arts and will consider the evolution of law enforcement in Houston and how art, dialogue and engagement can speak to its future.”
