July 9 - August 20, 2010
There’s a lot going going this weekend with every gallery in town offering a new show and the official opening of ArtHouston, but Art League Houston should be a must on your agenda with two exhibitions, one featuring Marco Villegas and a group exhibition curated by Beth Secor. In Long Way She Wave, five wall drawings by Marco Villegas find inspiration in the woodcut prints of the 19th century Japanese artist, Katushika Hokusai. Lonesome Travelers, curated by Secor, includes photographs by Mario Perez, Bryan Schutmaat, and Robert Ziebell who all share images taken from their travels. Secor based the title of the exhibition on Jack Kerouac’s book of the same name and the sense of solitary adventure all travellers feel on the road.
