December 5 - January 9, 2021
A solo exhibition featuring work by Zeke Williams.
From the gallery:
“G SPOT GALLERY is pleased to announce an exhibition by Dallas artist Zeke Williams, opening on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 310 East 9th Street, with a reception from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m, and on display through January 9, 2020. Presented by, Davis Cohen Art.
Williams begins his digital paintings in the gaming app “Noby Noby Boy” to create the unique compositions of the works. The paintings continue to evolve in Adobe Illustrator, where the outlines are filled with prints either remixed or originally created by Williams. Each original work is printed onto canvas and presented as a continuous diptych or triptych, with Williams rotating the pairing of paintings. Working in an exclusively digital format, Williams sees the possibilities for works being more infinite than working within the limitations of other classical mediums.
The pattern mixing in both the paintings and the pairings of Williams’ works sends the viewer on a hunt in connecting works and noticing similarities and differences in origins. To Williams, in each work, the viewer gets “most of the flavors mixed together, but not all” – leaving room for discovery and the urge for the viewer’s gaze to move around among the paintings.
ZEKE WILLIAMS was born in Concord, Massachusetts, and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. Williams received his BA from the University of Texas at Dallas. Following graduation, he went on to work at the progressive and prestigious Angstrom Gallery in Dallas working with artists like Robyn O’Neil, Jack Pierson, Anthony Goicolea, Mark Flood, Erik Swenson, and Jeff Elrod. Williams has been a contributor to online Texas-based media outlet Glasstire and is currently an MFA candidate at Texas Christian University in Forth Worth, TX.”
