September 4 - November 7, 2020
A solo exhibition featuring work by Charles Gray.
From the FWCAC:
“Artist Statement:
Charles Gray’s paintings and sculptures document his family history through the lens of being seen as property. The history of an enslaved man’s price tag of two chickens for his ancestor’s worth creates a narrative of value. Gray confronts this narrative using color and scale as a tool to emphasize the importance of the subjects’ humanity. Images of friends and family accompany this narrative serving as a celebration of people that have brought great value to the artist’s life.”
