December 7 - January 11, 2020
“Since Jillian Conrad’s last solo show in Houston in 2015, she has lived in an apartment in Mexico City, on a river in upstate New York and next to a giant grapevine in Houston. These varied landscapes, and many spaces in between, have coalesced into a new body of work called Airspace. The new sculptures and works on paper continue Conrad’s materially diverse investigation into the ways in which form can suggest meaning and abstraction can feel personal. Using pounded aluminum, blue dust and pomegranate branches, Airspace draws connections between the gravity of the terrestrial world and the invisible regions above us.
Airspace is Jillian Conrad’s fourth solo exhibition at Devin Borden Gallery and was made with support from the Houston Arts Alliance.”
