“The American Brilliant Period exemplifies the splendor of the Gilded Age, when those with means covered every surface with decoration. In the case of brilliant cut glass, heavy, leaded glass is covered with deep cuts that catch reflective light, making it glisten. The exhibition features pieces from the permanent collection as well as those borrowed from generous lenders, and includes extraordinarily intricate works from prominent late 19th and early 20th century firms such as C. Dorflinger & Sons, J. Hoare & Company, Pairpoint Glass Company, and T.G. Hawkes & Company.”
