September 12 - 13, 2020
A mobile art gallery debuting at Fall Gallery Night 2020.
From the gallery:
“September 12 & 13, 2020, Lottie Mae Lounge, a roving 31 ft. art gallery in a refurbished 1979 Airstream Sovereign, will make its debut at Fall Gallery Night at Flowers on the Square, in Ft. Worth, TX, then embark on an ongoing series of cross-country openings, featuring the work of both emerging and established contemporary artists.
Gallery founder, Fort Worth resident Libby Tilley, is a Sotheby’s graduate and an avid collector, who has cultivated a discerning eye while working with such art institutions as The Contemporary Austin, The Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, TX, Blue Star Contemporary Art Center in San Antonio, TX, and Artpace San Antonio.
“I always wanted to have a gallery of my own,” says Tilley, who named the gallery after her maternal grandmother. “While doing research with respected friends and colleagues who are gallerists, a common refrain was the uncertain nature of not owning the space itself. With Lottie Mae I can own and operate the space while exploring my nomadic tendencies.”
Outfitted with hardwood floors and LED gallery lighting to showcase works in a variety of scale and medium, Lottie Mae is, itself, a meticulously crafted work of art. While interior viewing capacity is three people at a time (masks are mandatory), portable easels and exhibition tables allow for exterior displays. Additional Covid-related safety measures include an interior UV Light Sanitizer used daily, and a state-of-the-art ventilation system.
Exhibitions will take place at an array of art happenings and venues, including outdoor markets, design studios, and private residences, with proceeds from special events going to select non-profits. Customers can track Lottie Mae’s location online and, when the geography collides, request viewing appointments or schedule and host a private exhibition.
Lottie Mae Lounge’s inaugural exhibition features work by Sarah Ayala, Ronnie Heart, Nancy Lamb, and Vince Veazey. Upcoming shows include work by Katie Pace Halleran; Butch Anthony; Jorge Villareal; Valerie Arber; Rebecca Cohen; and Hannah Greenblum/Blonde Omen, among others. The gallery will also feature special commissions by select artists. The premiere commission, No Man’s Land #2, is a limited-edition print by San Antonio artist Kelly O’Connor, and an extension of O’Connor’s current work on view at The McNay Museum in San Antonio, TX. These special commissions will also be available for purchase online.”
