From Luminaria:
“San Antonio-based arts nonprofit organization, Luminaria announces its next Luminaria Pop Up Art Gallery exhibition at The Aiden San Antonio Riverwalk. Presenting The Sounds of San Anto Exhibition & Presentation from May 8-29, the celebration of our unique and rich music legacy takes place on Thursday, May 15, from 6:00 to 8:00pm
Curated by Andrea V Rivas, Luminaria Fine Art Curator, the exhibit unites local photographers and fine artists who specialize in capturing bands and celebrations from the 1990s Tejano music scene to rock concerts of today. Artists include: Francisco Cortes, Terry French, Alexander McBeth, Jaime Monzon, Maxim Shirkov, Rooney Stevens and Richard Vasquez.
“San Antonio loves live music,” said Yadhira Lozano, Executive Director. “We enjoy it at city parks, restaurants, family gatherings, concert venues, and jam sessions on any given day, and this month, we celebrate the art of music through the eyes of local photographers and fine artists that have captured those special moments across the decades.”
On Thursday, May 15, join scholars, musicians, and artists as we discuss the Sounds of San Anto and enjoy a meet & greet with Tejano legend Shelly Lares! Panelists include Dan Margolies, Historian, Ethnomusicologist, and Author; Dr. Mario Salas, Assistant Professor of Practice, Race, Ethnicity, Gender and Sexuality Studies, UTSA; and a music showcase by the Westside Oral History Project.
