Nuestra Latinidad is a show four solo exhibitions by artists Delilah Montoya, Joshua Perez, Gabriel Villa, and Jake Prendez.
The four parts of the show include:
Delilah Montoya: Contemporary Casta Portraiture: Nuestra “Calidad”
An ethnographic art project that examines the ethnic roots of Colonial Heritage Families through sixteen family casta portraits, maps, and DNA genetic analysis
Joshua Perez: Todo Esta Bien, Everything’s Good
Black and white street photography and portraits that examine the culture and human condition in South, East, and West San Antonio
Gabriel Villa: Human Dive
Large scale paintings and drawings that depict subjects such as Public Housing, urban surveillance cameras, the marginalized, gang culture, family, religion and gentrification.
Jake Prendez: Genetic Memory: Xinachtli to Xochitl
Paintings that deal with identity, Chicanx/Latinx culture, art as a tool for social change, ancestry and connecting us to our indigenous roots.
