Justin,
Good luck on your exhibition. Great that GlassTire decides to put the word out about your exhibition. Tragic and on point that they would completely make Jamal Cyrus’ exhibition ‘invisible and of no consequence’ even in lieu of the fact that Herr Editor, Bill Davenport, was there LAST FRIDAY taking photos(Jamal’s exhibition opened first, Oct. 17) and carrying on. In all fairness to Bill, he was probably tired. Get some rest Superman.
Garry: If Jamal’s show was under-promoted, it was totally my oversight on the listing; it happens sometimes. But Bill had nothing to do with it. I’m all for calling out the privileged (including me) when they say and do dumb-ass stuff, consciously or not, but to imply that this was racially motivated (the line “invisible and of no consequence”) and to make Nazi references by calling Bill “Herr Editor” (apologies to Germans everywhere who use that word daily, but over here it’s usually a Nazi reference) is totally uncalled for. You make some good points sometimes; this is not one of them. Jamal: I’m sorry if I dissed you—you know I LOVE your work! Good job and keep it up!
