The award-winning San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is seeking a Curatorial Assistant. The Museum’s Curatorial Assistant works directly under the supervision of and together with the Museum’s Curator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working in collaboration with the Curator, assist in all aspects of caring for the Museum’s collection and loan objects, and producing and installing exhibits.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail, initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability.
- Must handle all art objects with extreme care, according to set protocols and best practices.
- Perform all duties using sound judgment and in a manner that promotes public confidence.
- Perform all activities according to the Museum’s highest ethical standards.
- Regular attendance is an essential job duty for all Museum positions; including working hours that may include evenings and weekends.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Some experience working in a museum, library, cultural institution, or gallery
- Basic knowledge of art and art history
- Detail-oriented
- Knowledge of computers and Office software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in fine art, art history, or museum studies
- One to two years of experience working in a museum, library, cultural institution, or gallery
- Experience handling art and installing exhibits
Regular Work Schedule:
Full time 8 am – 5pm, Monday- Friday
Salary and benefits:
Hourly, full-time. $17/hr.
