Famous comedian Cheech Marin wrote an excellent personal blog post on the Chicano experience in 2012:Like its art, ‘Chicano’ is an evolutionary term. Each generation has as much right to define what a Chicano is as any generation that came before them. One of the main aesthetic characteristics of Chicano is traditional Mexican meets contemporary America. It’s where they meet, influence each other, and create something totally new.
Along with saluting the Chicano culture, the exhibit is geared toward highlighting artist in the DFW area and other locations.
Using the broad theme of “Chicano” this exhibition will explore the growing impact and influence of Hispanic art and culture in the United States.
The content must be of a nature that a public entity can display for the enjoyment of a diverse, family-type audience.
