MKG Art Management is currently seeking an experienced Associate to join our team. Project management skills are required, and position has potential for growth within a small business. Must be a dynamic, confident self-starter and team player with a strong ability to handle unpredictable situations and be a proactive problem solver.
Job Description:
- Manage advisory and deaccessions projects, reporting to Partner in charge
- Conduct artwork research and liaise with galleries, dealers, and auction houses
- Communication with clients, must illustrate confidence and grace in all situations
- Proven ability to present to clients and market to potential clients
- Formulate presentations for acquisitions, on site commissions, floor plans, and marketing proposals
- Coordinate project timelines, administration tasks and oversee logistics including shipping, framing, and installation
- Supervise tasks across multiple simultaneous projects
- Manage high volume of artwork inventory in database systems
- Ability to propel projects forward, understanding next steps
- Front office admin as needed and assisting with answering phones
- Other duties as assigned and flexibility in the role
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Art History (or similar subject) + art market experience (gallery, museum, consulting)
- Familiarity with contemporary art market: local, national, and international galleries and artists
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to write about art historical topics
- Strong business writing skills
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail
- Must be a team player, working with all levels of staff and clients
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, as well as Photoshop and other IT programs
- Knowledge and proficiency of art database/inventory systems
