Description of Position
DCA is looking for a creative, driven, and skilled intern to manage daily office tasks and to work alongside the Owners and Project Managers. Work will consist of special projects, administrative efforts, and ongoing contracts. Site visits to a private residence, business, or public institutions may be necessary depending on the scope of work, so discretion, a professional demeanor, and decorum are necessary. Position will primarily report to our office in The Heights.
Professional Skills and Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required (writing, design, architecture, graphic design, interior design, arts). Those interested in the position should possess a strong proficiency in written communication, including technical writing and correspondence; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; and the ability to conduct research and synthesize information accordingly. Knowledge of Adobe design software and SharePoint is a plus. Our desire is that the intern will possess a unique skill that is beneficial to DCA. Examples: graphic design experience, architecture background, specific knowledge of contemporary art, etc.
Qualifications
- Create art layouts, space planning.
- Schematic design and development showing artwork in context with other interior design elements.
- Create design presentations and preparing materials for client meetings.
- Proficiency in CAD, Adobe Suite, and/or related software applications a plus.
- Willingness to assist with other non-design projects as needed.
- Architectural experience and/or graphic design experience a plus.
- Professional demeanor, office experience, sense for good design.
- Personality: team player, upbeat disposition, can-do attitude, utmost discretion.
Schedule
- Office-based regular schedule of 2-4 days per week.
- Commitment of at least 6 months.
- Flexible (yet consistent) schedule and start date.
- Stipend offered.
