The Art Advisor will be part of a team based in the Houston office working with residential and corporate clients. The candidate will be expected to establish and maintain relationships with clients and cultivate sales with those clients, grow corporate relationships, and to develop ties to the community. This position will also support and manage corporate art collections and perform duties related to the collections. The position requires working closely with the team to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. Evening hours and some weekend hours expected. Travel is required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with an art gallery, auction house, and/or museum
- Strong, proven sales experience
- Certificate in Appraisal Studies preferred
- Comfortable valuing property for various appraisal/fair market purposes
- Familiar with Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and ArtSystems.
- Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the President, providing regular input on all activity
- Development of relationships with artists, private dealers, galleries, and auction houses
- Market research and analysis as it pertains to our client’s needs
- Preparation of acquisition presentations
- Advise on deaccession opportunities
- Provide regular two-way communication between the client and team, to provide strong team representation and set proper client expectations
- Represent company at in-person and virtual meetings with client and other external parties
- Assist President with management of collection deaccessions and acquisitions
- Manage collection donations to charitable organizations
- Oversee installation of artwork across multiple sites
- Organize large-scale art installations and exhibitions
- Support physical upkeep, tracking, and management of the collection
- Create and deliver weekly, quarterly and/or annual reports to client (as requested)
- Implement and oversee special projects, including collection research and special exhibitions
- Propose and implement improvements to project and collection management practices
- Ensure security and confidentiality of data
- Adhere to office policies and procedures
