April 21 - June 1, 2011
Eric Stevens and Oliver Perrin’s exhibition VIrtue deals with ideas of chivalry. Don’t let the content of this exhibition mislead you – chivalry is the sense in which it is employed in this exhibition refers not to the noble tradition of boyfriends opening the door for their girlfriends on prom night. Instead, it refers to the 11th century use of the word in which its Latin origin, “caballarius” refers to “horseman.” So come bathe yourself in the rich, leathery gold of paintings of horse riding accoutrements set against deep, black backgrounds of historical memory.
