“The first major Exhibition and Survey of its kind ~ at once transformative, and historical. Paramount in both scale and complexity ~ the MARFA INVITATIONAL OPEN brings together Texas’s brightest stars. Highlighting and championing the Lone-Star State’s most consequential Arts community and ecosystem.

Shining the brightest of lights on the second-largest state in the U.S. (both area and population) ~ the MARFA INVITATIONAL OPEN will mount and present a monumental salon-style exhibition and survey of over 150 Texas Artists; sited at Marfa’s ‘Saint George Hall. Forging, and realizing, something more transformative than any one individual – via the power of ‘collaboration, collective, and community. Manifesting the construct: ‘Community as context’ ~ with the belief and understanding that ‘inclusivity expands the possibilities of Art ~ the MARFA INVITATIONAL OPEN brings together a diverse and expansive cross-section of Artists from across the great state ~ border to border ~ North to South, East to Far West Texas. Including young and emerging, established and mid-career, and internationally recognized and lauded Texas artists; working in a variety of mediums and genres. Selected and curated, via ‘Open Call’, by Marfa Invitational Open’s Curatorial Committee ~ Sonia Borrell, Lester Marks, and Michael Phelan (Founder + Director, Marfa Invitational). With the vision and mission of representing the greater whole of Texas; weaving together a most singular fabric as unique, diverse, and expansive, as the great state.

Supporting and championing Texas’ culturally rich and most significant Arts community and ecosystem, while embracing the pioneering spirit of the Marfa and far West Texas ~ the MARFA INVITATIONAL OPEN fosters discovery of young and emerging talent; while celebrating and championing Texas brightest stars.
