The free, annual exhibition, The People’s Gallery, showcasing over 100 local artists has been on view on the first three floors at Austin City Hall since February. Now, some of the artists will speak to the public about their work. Starting May 27, “Art After Six” will occur on the last Friday of the month through August. City Hall will have extended hours and evening talks by featured artists. The exhibition will be open from 6-8pm with talks by the following artists, beginning at 6:15pm:
May 27: Cindy Debold, Kat Kohl, Scott Rolfe
June 24: Beatrice Baldwin, Lalena Fisher, Nicole Jeffords
July 29: Barbara Attwell, Jess Bee, Cherry Taylor
August 26: Jennifer Idol, Kirk Marsh, Shelley Wood
To round off the whole “people’s” theme, visitors can vote for “The People’s Choice.” The winning artwork will be purchased from the artist (if available) and added to the City Hall permanent collection. Voting is open through October 30, but the City has one request before you cast your ballot: “Please visit the exhibition before submitting your final vote.”
