The exhibition features the following distinguished photographers:
Denise Prince
An Austin-based artist working in photography, film, and performance, Denise Prince explores the visual language of fashion photography to redefine beauty. Her internationally exhibited work has been featured in Vogue Magazine and PBS Television, drawing upon psychoanalytical insights to confront hypermodern ideals.
Teresa Rafidi
Teresa Rafidi photographs ordinary spaces, using light to reveal subtle traces of presence and perception. Her works, which invite contemplation of altered realities, have been exhibited nationally and internationally. She works as a full-time photographer and teaches photography at the college level.
Shawn Saumell
Shawn Saumell, a New York-born ALAANA artist based in Dallas, holds an MFA from Lesley University, a BFA from Texas Woman’s University, and an AA from Collin College. His award-winning work has been showcased in over 230 exhibitions worldwide, earning recognition such as “Best of Show” and “Photographer of the Year.”
Marilyn Waligore
Marilyn Waligore, a professor of photography at UT Dallas, blends digital media and conceptual art to create transformative works. Her extensive exhibition history spans venues from Hong Kong to Austin’s Laguna Gloria Art Museum. Her work appears in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Byrd Williams IV
Byrd Williams IV, a celebrated photographer, is renowned for his large-format triptychs and urban imagery. His work resides in collections like the Amon Carter Museum and MFA Houston. In 2014, UNT Libraries acquired his family’s archive of over 300,000 images, documenting four generations of photographic innovation and cementing their legacy in the medium.”
