January 2 - 16, 2025
From Un Grito Gallery:
“Un Grito Gallery is pleased to present “Tales of Three” an exhibition of recent works by UTSA Master of Fine Art candidates Anthony Figueroa, Braulio Gutierrez Gonzalez and Tam-Hien Vuong. This show will open Thursday, January 2nd and Friday, January 3rd, 2025, from 7-10 pm with a closing reception held on January 16th, 2025.
At the heart of “Tales of Three” is the concept of storytelling—a trio of artistic voices, each with a tale to tell. The exhibition is organized into three sections, each dedicated to the work of an individual artist, creating a clear delineation of styles while maintaining a cohesive dialogue between the themes.
The Artists and Their Narratives
• Anthony: Time as Material
Anthony’s assemblages of found materials embody an ongoing exploration of time. His works juxtapose objects with histories of their own, layered together to evoke a sense of temporality and continuity. Through his process, Anthony examines how time can be both fleeting and tangible, inviting viewers to contemplate their relationship with the passage of time.
• Braulio: Reflection of Self
Braulio’s illustrated, multi-layered compositions present deeply personal narratives that focus on self-reflection. Using figures and intricate layers, Braulio navigates the complexities of identity, memory, and perception. His works provide a vibrant and introspective lens into the process of understanding oneself and the evolving nature of personal stories.
• Tam: Inner Contradictions
Tam’s paintings transport viewers into dream-like landscapes where inner contradictions unfold. Her surreal compositions reflect the tension and harmony within her psyche, creating a meditative space for audiences to consider their own dualities. Her work resonates with a sense of vulnerability, yet its vivid imagery offers a hopeful exploration of resolution.”
