From Dallas College:
“The Gallery Program at Dallas College, a part of the School of CAED (Creative Arts, Entertainment, and Design) announces the first exhibition for the Fall Semester 2024 in Gallery 219, located at our Eastfield Campus in Mesquite, Texas.
The Solo exhibition titled, “Sign of Recognition,” will feature paintings and illustrations by Claudia Quintero Moseley. Moseley is a South Texas based artist specializing in painting and illustration. Her subject matter encompasses dream states, time, and the liminal qualities of life. Drawing heavily on symbolism and the surreal, her work gives voice to the immaterial qualities of experience. After teaching art in higher education for several years, she now works as an Educator in a regional historical museum. The artist resides with her husband, two cats, a box turtle and many, many succulent plants.
From the artist, “My work leans heavily on the use of symbols, not as purely collective or universal truths, but as the means to a personal, honest language. I think of the term symbol as a sign or mark that stands in for a longer, possibly more abstract thought or concept. The meanings of these signs or symbols are also subject to change, as the passage of time inevitably reinterprets us. The conscious and subconscious play equal roles in my creative process-therefore things are rarely clear from the beginning, and I often begin a work not having the whole picture. What I’m after is essence, which may be truth, or at least a pathway towards it.”
The galleries located at each of our seven main campuses at Dallas College are dedicated to presenting innovative exhibitions and programs with a focus on art from local and nationally recognized artists.”
