August 15 - October 5, 2024
From the Nave Museum:
“The Nave Museum is thrilled to announce our next fascinating dual exhibitions showcasing the talents of Oklahoma resident Irmgard Geul and Texas artist Carol Koutnik. From Friday, August 16th through Saturday, October 5th, 2024, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in two separate gallery exhibits featuring Geul’s embroidered painting artworks exhibit titled “Threads of Nature” and Koutnik’s “Unexpected Openings” painting and textile art exhibit. Each exhibit offers a distinct and compelling artistic vision, highlighting the diverse talents of these accomplished individuals.
The upcoming exhibition “Threads of Nature” by Irmgard Geul invites viewers to explore the interplay between nature’s cycles and man-made structures through her mixed-media art. Born in The Netherlands and now living on a horse ranch in Oklahoma, Geul combines vibrant acrylic paintings with embroidery, capturing the often-overlooked beauty of rural landscapes. Her art highlights the balance between nature and the man-made environment, encouraging viewers to appreciate their surroundings. Inspired by her mother’s legacy as an haute couture seamstress and her cross-cultural experiences, Geul’s work showcases the unique textures and movement of each scene. Exhibited nationally and internationally, her work has received acclaim, including a Citation from the State of Oklahoma for “The Long Way Home,” and has been featured in Oklahoma Today, Textile Plus, and on OETA’s Gallery America.
Additional details about Geul and Koutnik can be found on the Nave Museum website at NaveMuseum.org.
ARTSpeak Artist Mixer events, held from 11 AM to 12 PM on the closing day of each exhibit, offer a dynamic platform for both exhibit artists and the general public to connect. These free events provide an opportunity to share insights, discuss their craft, and gain inspiration from one another.
